Join us for a fun evening to renew friendships, talk nature, and to discuss the up-coming Christmas Bird Count – with appetizers and liquid refreshments in hand! This is a special Fall Social Event for Nature Salt Spring Members and any others who plan to participate in this year’s Audubon Christmas Bird Count (on December 17).
The event will take place at the Golf Course Restaurant starting at 5 pm, on Tuesday, December 5th. A donation of $5-$10 at the door will help us defray the rental costs of the facility. Delicious appetizers will be included complements of Nature Salt Spring and (and CBC Coordinator) Peter McAllister. We need to know the number of participants so that we can order canapés prepared by the Chef. Please pre-register (before Dec. 2) by emailing NatureSaltSpring@gmail.com with the line “Count Me In for the CBC Party”. Drinks can be purchased at the golf-club’s no-host bar.
The Program includes two short talks. Tim Marchant will speak briefly about the data from Salt Spring’s several years of CBCs and Peter McAllister will entertain us with brief insights into how the CBC has revealed the remarkable world of birds at other places and times.
You’ll be amazed at the delicious appetizer choices and you may even win a door prize! HEADS UP!– Nature enthusiasts who join this year’s CBC for the very first time will be at a great advantage in the Door Prize Draws! Also – get prepared for the Changing of Names BrainStorm (see next item).
