Christmas Bird Count for Kids!

Young birders – here’s a chance for you to participate in North America’s longest running Citizen Science project! Xwaaqw’um has shorebirds, wetland birds, and birds of the forest and open areas. Hawks and raptors will be found! We’ll be counting birds of all the species we can identify, tabulating the results and submitting our list to BirdsCanada. You may be partnered with an experienced birder and Kathleen has a few pairs of binoculars you might like to try. We will be covering at least 2 km of trails.

Where: Xwaaqw’um (Burgoyne Provincial Park) Meet at the First Nations’ Circle near the upper parking lot
When: New Year’s Eve! Dec. 31, 2023 from 1 – 3 pm
What to bring: Binoculars, and wear boots and warm clothes.
