Discovering Marine Life Around Salt Spring Island

Into the Salish Sea!

Discovering Marine Life Around Salt Spring Island by

Ann Donahue

Friday, November 21

7:00 pm at the Library Program Room

Join us on Friday, November 21, for a plunge into the Salish Sea to explore for  marine life  along our shores.

Thanks to our guest speaker, Ann Donahue (who regularly braves the frigid waters around our Island with snorkel, wet suit, mask, underwater camera, and an amazing passion and curiosity about the living ocean) we don’t even have to get wet!

This richly-illustrated presentation will highlight marine life viewed and photographed by Ann as she snorkels along the Island’s shores. The presentation is free and is open to the public at the Salt Spring Library Program Room on Friday November 21, 7 pm to about 8:15. Doors open at 6:40.

Ann Donahue is a retired teacher with a passion for the ocean and scubadiving.  Ann snorkels regularly in the waters around Salt Spring Island and she also travels a few times a year to dive the coral reefs of warmer waters.

Ann enjoys taking photographs and videos of these beautiful environments to share with friends, community groups and school classes. Her exciting stories and stunning photographs reveal the beauty and diversity of coral reefs and other marine ecosystems.

Ann has written and published two illustrated children’s books: Diving Into Colour and Reef Creatures: Weird and Wonderful. More information about her work can be found at her website: anndonahue.ca
