BC’s Important Bird Areas with Liam Ragan, IBA Coordinator for BC Nature

  • Lions Hall 103 Bonnet Ave. (map)

Liam Ragan is an enthusiastic lover of, and authority on, all things BIRDS and he will share his infectious enthusiasm and immense knowledge with us on Friday May 3 at the Lions Hall at 103 Bonnet Ave, at 7:00 pm.

Liam will discuss biodiversity hotspots in the Salish Sea; how local communities are integral to their identification and conservation; and how folks around the province are stepping up to ensure these areas remain significant to the birds and other species that rely on them for generations to come. This is an important and entertaining presentation for anyone who appreciates the bird diversity sharing this Island with us.

You won’t want to miss Liam’s account of his quest to break the “Big Record” for birds sighted and documented on Vancouver Island in one year (the current record is 275 species set  by Ann Nightingale in 2015).

Bonus for Nature Salt Spring Members: Liam will lead a birding walk early on Saturday morning, May 4. More information at the Friday presentation.

Liam is the Provincial Coordinator for Important Bird Areas and First Nations Liaison for the new Key Biodiversity Areas in B.C. with B.C. Nature. See his work and Blog at: liamraganphotography.com
